Bob Hite's House

At 701 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, fans can still view the ruins of Bob Hite's house. Partially destroyed in a flood, and subsequently inhabited by a variety of "squatters", it's nonetheless an intriguing piece of history. Most of the remaining interior and exterior walls are covered in graffiti art, making the scene even more lurid.

This is one of the most important Alan Wilson-related sites in the world. Not only was it home to his friend and bandmate Bob Hite, Alan himself spent a great deal of time here. He visited often to listen to records, and also spent many a night camping on the hillside in the backyard. When he left his physical incarnation, his sleeping bag on that hillside is where he passed away, making the transition to the celestial realms on September 3, 1970.

In 2010, Alan's biographer Rebecca Davis paid a visit to the house, along with two of Alan's sisters. For them, it was both a historic and spiritual experience. Though these pictures do not convey what the house and yard looked like during Alan's time, it is what we have left, and hopefully other fans will enjoy this photographic record of the place where Alan spent so much time... where, indeed, he spent his last earthly hours.
